Road to Health

A resource for monitoring your newborn baby’s development

From the moment your baby is conceived to when he or she is born, good health care depends on the daily care and protection you and your family provide to your baby. For this purpose, the National Department of Health provides moms with the Road to Health booklet.

The A5 Road to Health booklet is issued at all new births to help guide new parents and caregivers over the first new months of a baby’s life.

Road to Health covers topics such as nutrition, love, protection and healthcare to help answer many of the questions asked by new parents, and allows you to track and record your child’s growth, immunisations and health interventions.

It is also available as a digital application for smartphones (Android). This is known as the Road to Health app or the eRTHB. The app allows parents and guardians to view their childcare information, and in the future, update their child’s health record.

It is important to always take your Road to Health booklet with you when visiting any healthcare clinic, doctor or hospital.
